Image feature poet (live in studio): b davis
b davis started writing poetry in the third grade. he kept it a secret because it wasn't cool or safe to write poetry in the housing projects of st louis in the early 70's. he kept writing until it was cool. fortunately, hip-hop came along, and b davis received a reprieve and has been sharing ever since.  more recently, b davis has been performing with the jazz pianist orrin evans at jam sessions at reuben's marc in mt airy on wednesdays. he has also performed with orrin evan's band luv park at several clubs in new york including the blue note and the iridium club.  he has had the honor of sharing the stage with sonia sanchez and jaguar wright. his influences range from langston hughes to gil scott heron to the irreverent dolemite. no wonder b davis's poetry is Black, sultry, funny, and provocative.
