James Tour, Ph.D. is a professor of chemistry, computer science, and materials science and nanogenineering at Rice University. He will discuss a process of making graphene cheaply by a flash Joule heating method. Graphene, the hardest manmade substance, could then be used in a number of ways to lower greenhouse gas emissions, such as in making and using concrete. Chelsea Heveran, Ph.D., of University of Colorado and Montana State University will tell us about “living building materials”, a new field using living biological matter to make nonorganic objects, including green cement. Not in Philly? You can still listen to all the great G-town Radio programing on Tunein (https://tunein.com/) on your phone or other device.
