HOUR 1: If you listen to old jazz records and go out to hear live jazz a lot, you've probably noticed that there are certain standards that you hear musicians play all the time and others that you hear on your old records but rarely if ever hear live. Today's show will feature a new segment spotlighting some of these rarely heard standards. Kicking it off will be Cole Porter's "I Concentrate On You" and Oscar Hammerstein & Sigmund Romberg's "Lover Come Back To Me." Plenty of other great jazz and rhythm & blues too...
HOUR 2: UNCLE SAM'S VINYL: Jazz LPs from the late '60s and '70s. This week's albums: Marcus Belgrave's Gemini II (Tribe, 1975) and Dexter Gordon's Ca'Purange (Prestige, 1973).
Lucky Old Souls, hosted by Feldie every Tuesday afternoon from 2-4pm. Remember to check out Feldie's Philly Jazz Calendar for the most inclusive (but curated) jazz listings in Philly. Full playlist for today's show here as it unfolds:
