G-town Radio is proud to present news breaks from the Media Mobilizing Project. You will hear new pieces each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays (noon & 5 PM). This week's On Blast segment is called Powerful Union of the Poor: United Workers. Greg, from the United Workers in Baltimore, speaks about the values and philosophy of this union, which is run by poor people for poor people. He also talks about their campaigns and about gentrification in Baltimore. Produced by Eric Yates & Amber Marie Felton. Labor Justice Radio this week features a piece called Temple Risks Patients' Lives for Profit. Nurses and other healthcare professionals share stories that expose the impact on patients when Temple Hospital maximizes profits by cutting medical supplies, under-staffing and decreasing patients' length of stay at the hospital. PASNAP (Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals) are striking over a contract that would institute a 'gag clause,' effectively barring these health professionals from advocating for patient safety.
For more information on PASNAP's strike, visit TempleWatch.org. Produced by Kistine Carolan. |
