(LPFM) Indiana University's WIUX-LP May Keep License Print E-mail
(Inside Indiana Business - March 19, 2007)
Indiana Senators Evan Bayh, Richard Lugar and Congressman Baron Hill have called on the FCC to reconsider the license suspension of Indiana University's student run radio station, WIUX-LP.  The low power station had only been on the air for nine months before a nearby country music station forced them off the air.  The country station was doubling the strength of their signal on the same frequency as WIUX's.  The FCC granted right of way to the country station and suspended the LPFM license.  WIUX had spent fours navigating the application process prior to being granted a license.  A tentative deal is in the works which would have WIUX move to a new frequency.
