June 14 @ 6pm: MANHATTAN MANHUNT Print E-mail

Image

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave. Tonite we have 2 scripts. The first is from the crime drama series The Big Story. Originally aired 1948, "Manhunt in Manhattan" is a dramatization of a true story that involves a cop in the murder of 2 innocents during a successful robbery. To what extent will beat reporter Ted Prague risk his reputation and life to snare the cynical snarly Joey rice?...We follow that confounding caper with an episode from the comedy Fibber McGee and Molly. 1st broadcast 1945, "Making Fudge" is a glorified cooking show that glosses over the gruesome details of preparing that gooey confection. And here as honey to your ears are guests Ellen Perry, Ben Robinson III, Gary Mitchell, Jim Harris of Ave G and myself, your host, Andy Pettit.

May 24 @ 6pm: Skakespeare, a painting disappears, and a washing machine goes weird Print E-mail

Image

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave, the only show in town airing live radio plays. tonite we have 3 scripts; all comedies. Our first 2 toe-ticklers come from the Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel series starring the Marx Bros. Originally aired 1933, Episode 14 has Chico and Groucho take over as managers of a Skakespeare production. Can the boys save Romeo and Juliet from smoldering in flames or will they fan it with their usual tornado-type trickery?  Episode 17 concerns a stolen painting with our detective duo assigned to track down the thief and concludes with one of the most hilarious dialogues ever written. For our final foray in funny bone bending, wwe turn to an episode from Vic and Sade. 1st broadcast 1934, "The Washing Machine Is On the Blink" is a tale that'll leave you 'lectrified with laffter. It seems once Sade reports that the washing machine is ouuta whack, Vic and son Rush figure a handy dandy wire trick to play on ma Sade. Talk about shock therapy. And here to sizzle yer insides are Susan Lonker, Gary Mitchell, Maury Harris and his cuzzin Jim of Ave G along with me, your host, Andy Dandy. Let's listen and enjoy some live musical interludes between episodes.
