SKYWAVE 9/4 @ 6pm: "I Want To Walk/ Venus Is A Man's World?" Print E-mail

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave for more radio play excitement. We have 2 goodies tonite. We begin with an original by Caitlin Cieri, titled "I Want To Walk". A homeless man begs for change in the street and an elderly man stops to lecture him about his life choices. But the longer the conversation goes on, the more apparent it is the elderly man has a secret shame of his own. This is a play that tackles the opioid crisis and the insidious way pain management turns into full blown addiction. We follow with an episode for the X Minus One sci fi series. 1st broadcast `1957, "Venus Is A Man's World" considers how the solar system operates in the year 2107, when gender equality is extinct and women say what goes until a Venusian man in search of an Earth wife meet and we find out who has the last word, so to speak. And here to keep you speechless are playwright Caitlin Cieri and regular voice Maury Harris along with your host, Andy Pettit.

We have a drama from the Dragnet series. 1st broadcast 1955,  "The Big Sisters"  ain't big on murder, but makes up for it plenty with all the usual tidbits like a tough suspect who's a real criminal, a motive, some laughs and a sad message about sibling rivalry. Dum da dum dum! Join guests Elizabeth Caruso, Stepehen Medvidick, Maury Harris, and your host Andy Pettit for  sure fire entertainment.

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave. We have 3 scripts. We begin with an episode from the 1930s melodramedy Cecil and Sally series. Titled "Sally Has  a Good Cry", it seems that poor ol' Sally has gotten deep into Existentialist  angst over feeling all alone. Is she? Stay tuned.  We continue with an entry from the Phil Harris-Alice Faye comedy show. 1st broadcast 1953, "Gang Leader's Phone Number" has Phil and Alice believing an old lady is a mob leader. But who gets arrested? Stay tuned and listen from Fleischmann's Yeast Hour. Originally aired 1935, "The Church Mouse" considers the spunk of a meek young lady who demands that a big shot bank prez give her a chance at playing secretary. Will he give in? Well, here to jiggle the jello out of your stuffing are regular voices Martha Michael, Bill Simpson, and your wiggler Andy Pettit.

Leonie can't go anywhere anymore. ..not since the foxes came in. Based on  the Sandy Skoglund art installation. We continue with an episode from Suspense. 1st broadcast 1946, "Drive In" takes innocent waitress Millie through the rain-soaked California hiway. Her chauffeur is a doctor. Or is he?And here to drive you wild are regular voice guests Nyi Lunsford, Gary Mitchell, returning guest playwright Caitlin Cieri along with your back seat driver Andy Pettit.

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave. We begin with a melodrama from the Royal Gelatin Hour. Originally aired 1937, "Curtain" is the final performance from a stage starlet. But if it's not on the boards, where? Stay tuned...We continue with a dramady from playwright Jack Heifner. Published 1977, "Patio" considers the amusing lives of sisters Jewel and Pearl as they ponder the past and present; told with witty humor and yet a sense of desperation on a hot, dry Texas patio. And here to cool your ears are voice regulars Sherry Brown and Ginny Kaufmann along with your host Andy Pettit.
