November 11 @ 6pm: THE BIG BLOW Print E-mail

Good evening. I'm Andy Pettit, host of Skywave, your exclusive provider of almost weekly radio play entertainment in Philadelphia. Tonight we present an original script by yours truly titled "The Big Blow". What does a lava-tempered lieutenant in a criminal organization do when he grows impatient with his secondary status, but doesn't have the muscle to engineer a takeover solo? Seek out a partner, of course. But who can a guy trust in an atmosphere where greed constantly shifts alliances? By the way, if you'd like to see the show live with the actors you'll be hearing tonight and the man tinkering the machine that emits the punctuating sound sensations, join us this saturday at 8pm at the Read and Eat Cafe located at 7141 Germantown avenue. Now please allow me to introduce those versatile voices that animate these questionable characters - returning after several shows, welcome the inimitable Isabelle Dickstein, and also a regular guest who was just here two weeks ago; Morning Feed host...the Gore Vidal of Gtown radio, the endearing Ed Feldman, and a more recent but terrific talent, the gregarious Guy Dunne, along with the creator of Ave G; jigglin' Jim Harris on sfx and myself. So, go put on on your bullet proof suit because this is a sure shot bang-up story. Let's listen...

October 28 at 6pm: MARS IS HEAVEN! Print E-mail

Good evening. Welcome to Skywave for your one and only weekly show of live radio plays in Philadelphia. This evening we bring you two especially frightful features in honor of the scariest night of the year. Our first script comes from the X Minus One series that aired in the mid 50s and is titled Mars Is Heaven. Is it? How could a place so cold and remote filled with hideous red creatures be compared to an earthling's ideal destination? Maybe that's the point. What might not be so clear is the content of our second selection from the Hermit's Cave series. First aired in 1948, "The Blackness of Terror" is filled with incomprehensible sounds emitted by a man whose voice is tortured by something he has done. What could it be? Stay tuned if your ears can stand it! Well, Skywave is calling for listeners to stay in their seats despite the inevitable impulse they'll feel to jump and run away howling during this broadcast. And to keep you on the edge of that decision are guests to Skywave, but all regular hosts of their own programs here at Gtown. So let's welcome 1st time visitor and host of the eclectic yet currently attuned sun nite show Reckless Curiosity, Maggie Nolan. Also give cheers to a many time visitor and the happenin' host/creator of the ever bumpin' thurs. eve show Black Tribbles, Len Webb. And let's give a hoot for the host of the every morning show Morning Feed, the Dick Cavett of Germantown, Ed Feldman. Finally let fly a flurry of whatever sounds sift thru your head when you hear the name Jim Harris of the first weds of every month show Ave G....along with me, your Skywave announcer, Andy Pettit. We're on in 5,4,3,2,1, BLAH!

October 14 @ 6: BOOZE and BROADS Print E-mail

Happy fall. You're tuned to Gtown radio and this is Skywave, your space to hear radio plays for the next hour. Tonight we have a special treat with a retreatment of a regular play tweaked just a tinge to make it suitable for y'all high  fallutin' internet-connected folks. This week we have a 1984 script from Ralph Pape titled "Girls We Have Known", which concerns what is most on the minds of two randy young bucks. And what else would you expect two guys yo talk about when they have to make a cross country trip in a pickup fueled fire water.Well, here to assume the persona of the two characters described are pretty much the best actors out there to take on this hot topic and liquid diet challenge. They are Vinny Ali and Dave Polgar along with Jim Ave G Pistol Poppin' Harris on sfx and me your host and tonight's announcer, Andy Pettit. Go get whatever gas you need to fuel this journey 'cause it's gonna be along, bumpy ride.
