Monday, 10 April 2017

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave, your program for live radio play listening pleasure.  Tonite we have a trio of plays and a special treat. We'll start with an episode from the nail-biting Quiet Please series. First broadcast in 1948, "Let The Lilies Consider" explores a triangular relationship between a woman, a man, and his flowers. How did the original human pair become threesome? This tale is sure to fertilize your imagination. We continue with 2 brief episodes from the comedy series that spawned so many others- The Bickersons. The first, from 1946 and titled "The Tax Refund", is a friendly nudge to avoid the IRS and a reminder that any contentious couple may want to consider how they should file. The second entry from the Battling Bickersons is "8th Wedding Anniversary", which should be a fair indication how this duo does deal with their financial affairs, but offers no clues for marriage counselors. And here, despite knowing every detail about each other and still agreeing to perform together are the sensational Sharon Sigal and the gregarious Gary Mitchell along with Jim as mediator -er moderator, virile voice and podmaster Harris of Ave G and me, your pest -er host for tonite's show, Andy Pettit.

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave. Tonite we have 2 thrilling scripts. The first is from the searing suspense series. Originally aired 1949, "To Find Help" concerns an older lady who hires out some young male help. The young guy appears virile. , so why does he make constant reference to his strong hands? Are they JUST for cleaning? Our second feature is from the scintillating sci fi Flash Gordon series. 1st broadcast 1935, in "Episode 3" Flash must confront his 2 love interests Dale Arden(his American sweetheart) and Aura(evil Emperor Ming's daughter), but not before a rendezvous with Thun, the powerful bearded Prince of the Lionmen and Prince Barin, a former member of Ming's court. Which of the 4 contestants will win Flash's affections? Sounds like a hairy proposition that could be a close shave even for the likes of our hulky hero. And here to cut to the chase is snippety Sherry Brown and shaggy shear master Ben Robinson III along with the hilariously hirsute Jim Harris of Ave G and your bare-faced host, Andy Pettit.

Welcome to Skywave. We have 2 scripts. The first is from the Suspense series. Originally aired 1947, "Stand In" is a story of a frustrated actress who's likeness to the movie star named Madame she doubles for on set and provides steady but unfulfilling work develops an interest in Madame's equally frustrated husband. How do they plan to overcome their shared exasperation? Following that toasty tale is an episode from Lucille Ball's My Favorite Husband. In "Spring Cleaning" from 1950, only Lucy could turn  the initial narrative of a wife trying to trick her husband into doing seasonal cleaning to being the foil of a misunderstood love letter. Confused? Prepare to be more so as you hear the voices of regulars Kathy Harmer, Shelli Pentimall, Tom Tansey, along with Jim "Pants on Fire" Harris of Ave G and me, your host, Andy Pettit.
