Hey Folks, The past few weeks have been sobering, infuriating, and shocking. In the midst of all of the chaos, many people have risen to the occasion as inspirational forces and few have exhibited the grace and bravery of Ieshia Evans. The young mother travelled to Baton Rouge to protest and, as she spoke truth to power, a quickly snapped picture of her threw her into the public eye. Here on It's All Soul, we just wanted to tip our hat to her in a small way. And so...some songs for Ieshia Evans. We hope you can join us. It's All Soul, Wednesdays, 8-10 pm on gtownradio.com. -Vincent & Daryl |

Hey Folks, This show has been a long time coming. From Detroit to Louisville, New Birth was not only a well regarded seventies funk band but their music has also provided a fertile ground for DJ's and producers to create some of the most iconic hip-hop songs of all time. Seems like a band we should talk about here on IAS and, tonight, we'll do just that! On the next episode of It's All Soul...New Birth. Hope you can join us! Hey Folks, Few artists have captivated and excited Team IAS more in the past ten years more than Gregory Porter. His rich baritone is evocative of Old Sounds and his music matches his voice, bringing to mind the rhythms of soul, jazz, gospel, and work songs. Any new release from Gregory Porter is a cause for celebration...and tonight, we're doing just that! We'll dig into Porter's new album, Take Me To The Alley and revisit work from his older albums, some live stuff and some songs he contributed on, here and there. On the next It's All Soul...Gregory Porter! It's All Soul, Wednesdays, 8-10 pm on gtownradio.com.Hope you can join us. -Vincent & Daryl |

Hey Folks, And, we're back! Of course, we had to have a new show to, once again, commemorate IAS's favorite time of year: Stevie Wonder's birthday! As we do every year, we'll spend the entire episode with one of the icon's albums. This year, we're going to focus on 1974's classic, Innervisions. This is primo stuff here; Stevie Wonder at the height of his powers. All we really need to do with this, honestly, is just play the album but we'll also play some of the artists who were nominated with Wonder for that year's Grammys and, in general, what the landscape sounded like. On the next It's All Soul...Happy Birthday, Stevie Wonder! Hope you can join us. It's All Soul, Wednesdays 8-10 on gtownradio.com -Vincent & Daryl |

Hey Folks, Tonight, we're going back...way back. Without question, Sam Cooke is one of the foundational artistic voices in soul music. From his early work with the Soul Stirrers to his legendary solo efforts, Cooke's art is mandatory for any fan of music. What we're mostly interested in, on this episode, is his live performances. Depending on the audience, Sam Cooke used his voice as a scalpel or a sword. We're going to listen to all of it. On the next all new episode of It's All Soul...the Raw Soul of Sam Cooke! Hope you can join us. Wednesdays, 8-10pm on gtownradio.com -Vincent & Daryl |

Hey Folks, I think we can all agree that Zoe Saldana's casting as Nina Simone is one of the worst decisions that all involved could have made. Here's the thing though; with all the discussion of better choices, whether it would be Viola Davis, Uzo Aduba or any of the other names, the role was always a poisoned chalice. If you've ever seen Nina Simone perform or talk or just BE, no one was ever going to do her justice. Only Nina Simone was Nina Simone. On the next episode, we're going to explore that through her music. We'll play some fantastic covers/interpretations of Nina Simone...and then we'll play the real thing. Tonight, on a brand new episode of It's All Soul...Zoe Saldana's Inevitable Blackface and the Music of Nina Simone. Wednesdays, 8-10 pm on gtownradio.com. Hope you can join us. |
