On Saturday February 29 at 3 PM, Alan Silverblatt will have a special guest on his Harmonic Attitude program. The guest is Stephen Tow, author of the new book "London, Reign Over Me: How England's Capital Built Classic Rock". The book traces the roots of classic rock in post-war London, starting with traditional jazz and moving quickly through blues, skiffle and ultimately into what became classic rock. Alan and Stephen will discuss some of the interesting and little known social contexts, events and serendipitous meetings that helped create classic rock, and will play some key songs from that early era.

The first show of the month DJ PhillyDave will feature an album & the band/artist, putting the lp & artist in historical perspective. What was going on in the rock n' roll world when this was recorded & came out? Where was the artist/band in their career? What lead up to it & where did it lead? What was the recording of this record like? So, why does this record/artist matter on a macro & micro level in the world of rock n' roll? Hear the tunes & b-sides & if possible, outtakes from the sessions.

The 2nd week's show will feature bands of the same ilk, of the same time. Also, the music that influenced the record including original versions of covers recorded or performed live then. And bands & artists influenced since the release of the record- why it matters, 'cause hey, it does.

This month: LONDON CALLING - THE CLASH
