But, best of all, James Mason's impossibly scarce masterpiece, Rhythm of Life, was just reissued by a Japan's Shout label, and since I never thought I'd come across a copy, let me tell you, it was worth the wait! Sweet grooves stopping by the Junction Wednesday night...so you should too! I still can't stop listening to the amazing rediscovery of Azanyah by the deep diggin' folks over at Jazzman Records, so let's check that out, plus yet another wild Jazzman reissue from multi-instrumentalist Owen Marshall. Sadly, Stax session legend and (almost) original M.G. Donald "Duck" Dunn passed away this week, so of course we'll pay respects. But it's not all bad news! We also got a sweet mix of percussion and keys on a new album from Jessica Lauren...and electric piano from Romano Mussolini (son of Benito!), 'Nawlins soul from Allen Toussaint, and one more for MCA because we ran out of time last week.
