This show also features a music component, showcasing artists both local and on a national level, whose work provides a voice for change and societal uplift.

This convening is guided by the mission of The Fellowship, to increase the number of Black male educators nationally, fight for educational equity and advance policies for our communities. In addition Gabriel will discuss this weekend's "One African, One Nation: Uhuru Book Fair and Flea Market" - come out to Clark Park to take in vendors, services and entertainment! They will discuss this weekend's conference, designed to gather activists and concerned community members regarding the development of a model of community power in relation to policing. The goals include creating an infrastructure wherein community members have more of a voice and are empowered to intervene in these affairs to hire, fire, subpoena and audit the police. Tune in to Stepping Into Tomorrow, this evening at 8:00PM, as host Gabriel Bryant covers the recent news of the assault on political prisoner Herman Bell by prison guards at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, NY. A former member of the Black Panther Party who is now 69 years old, on Sept. 5 2017 he was viciously beaten by several guards and sent to the prison infirmary. This beating was not only unprovoked, but affected a visit with his family that was scheduled for three days later, which would have been the first time in two and half years, as well as his upcoming appearance before the parole board in February 2018 (he hadn't had any disciplinary violations in over 20 years).

Gabriel will speak with Dr. Kihana Ross Vakil, Herman Bell's daughter-n-law, to discuss the story even more in-depth and what you can do to support Herman Bell and the family!

Kendi, Professor of History and International Relations and Founding Director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University. Kendi is the writer of "Stamped From The Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America," a National Book Award Winner. Recently featured on CNN and Democracy Now, Kendi will discuss this book's resonance in this current conversation on white supremacy and anti-blackness, as well as his thoughts on Charlottesville and what lies ahead.

On June 8th, 2017, David Jones was shot in the back and killed by a police officer in North Philadelphia's Hunting Park section. Video footage captures the scene and shows Jones running away, unarmed. Since then, the family has organized rallies, marches and worked to spread the word about the loss of their loved one and demanded justice.
