1ST HOUR: An all-blues hour in honor of this Friday's Blues Night @ LaRose with the Jef Lee Johnson Band... Feldie does the blues a little different, though. Look for tracks from Sonny Clark, Sarah Vaughan, LaVern Baker, Thelonious Monk, Charles Brown, and more.

2ND HOUR: A celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of tenor saxophonist Ben Webster. Ben Webster's expressive range on the tenor sax might be unmatched, and you'll hear him doing it all, with big bands, vocalists, small groups, and strings, starting with a 1932 recording with Bennie Moten's band and continuing chronologically through his work with Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and more.

Feldie will be joined in the studio today by vibraphonist Khan Jamal and percussionist Lenny Belasco.  Khan Jamal, who's been making music in Philly and elsewhere for over 40 years, has a unique voice on the vibes and has recorded more than a dozen albums as a leader.  Lenny will take us on a guided tour through Khan's career and discuss their recent collaborations.  And, later in the show, Khan and Lenny will perform live in the studio.

No guest... no theme... Just 2 hours of great jazz, rhythm & blues, and more on today's Lucky Old Souls.  Lots of tracks from some new additions to Feldie's collection and plenty of old favorites too...  Some post-war blues from T-Bone Walker and Charles Brown, some jazz from Leo Parker and the Art Ensemble of Chicago, and a brand new track from Philly's hotttest up & coming band, Erronious Krunk.  They'll be performing as part of the Philly Rising Open Stage Best of 2008 on Monday, March 9 at World Cafe Live. 

And coming up next week... a live in-studio performance from vibraphonist Khan Jamal and percussionist Lenny Belasco.  The duo will be performing on March 13 at the premiere of Lucky Old Souls @ Moonstone, a new live monthly live music series hosted by Feldie on the 2nd Friday of each month at Moonstone Art Center (formerly Robin's Books) in Center City Philadelphia.

John Colgan-Davis, harmonica player and singer with the Dukes of Destiny, will join Feldie for today's edition of Lucky Old Souls.  John will share his Desert Island 5 picks and give us a live in-studio performance on the harmonica.

Saxophonist/composer Dan Peterson, a member of Bobby Zankel's Warriors of the Wonderful Sound, Odean Pope's Saxophone Choir. and several other local ensembles, will join Feldie in the studio for today's edition of Lucky Old Souls.  Dan will discuss his song cycle "Five Simple Worlds... And Ways Of Getting There" and the monthly Avant Ascension series that he co-presents at Tritone every third Wednesday.  Dan will also share music from some under-appreciated saxophone players from throughout the history of jazz.  

You can hear Dan perform a trio version of "Five Simple Worlds..." at this month's Avant Ascension, tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 18, at 9:30 p.m. at Tritone, 1508 South St.

A busy show today... Bassist Leon Boykins, a member of Ben Schachter's re:Trio, will join Feldie in the studio to talk about his music and present his Desert Island 5.  Leon can be heard with the trio every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. at TIME (1315 Sansom St.).

In the first half of the show, Feldie will speak on the phone with vocalist Venissa Santi, who's performing at a Valentine's Brunch on Sunday, February 15th from 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Bistro St. Tropez (2400 Market St. 4th Fl.)

Plenty of time for some Lucky Old Souls tunes, too.  From Ben Webster to Ike & Tina...
