I desperately wanted to compare this episode to a chevron bead but just couldn't for the life of me come up with a suitable way to do so. Suffice it to say chevron beads are very pleasant, as was this episode. We heard a number of Rykodisc recordings, a lovely track by A CAMP, a drastic rendering of a Carol King song by Nick Ingman's Moody, and quite a bit more.

In this episode Blur made it clear they've got a file on us, Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs paid homage to Todd Rundgren, Cornelius counted to five (or six), and Dead Kennedys expressed their love of short songs.

Lovely products of musical toil by the following artists/bands were heard tonight: Lou Barlow, Dan Friel, Joni Mitchell, Benji Hughes, Lambchop, Paul Brown (musician, producer, NPR broadcaster who put together an excellent album of Benton Flippen music that was showcased this evening as well), and Lee Hazlewood to name a handful.

An old Chinese proverb says: "one mouse dropping ruins the whole pot of rice porridge." To that I say: "if no one notices though, aren't they just taking in something that could potentially be of nutritional value?" Not that this in any way applies to this particular show though.
