Fewsh Fewsh is a music program. The only thing that distinguishes it from its nearly countless contemporaries is the simple fact that it is not one of its nearly countless contemporaries. This is not to say that Fewsh is unprecedented in any way, shape, or form. It is actually intended to point out quite the reverse! Fewsh is much like a single hotel room in a vast hotel. Though room C23 might be identical to every other room in a given hotel, it is individual by virtue of the fact that it is no other room than C23. However, it should be stated that Fewsh aims to provide a slightly different aesthetic approach, thereby justifying its existence. What the above paragraph failed to communicate is that Fewsh's mission is to celebrate music in a very all-genres-welcome fashion. This is exemplified by the Dark Alley Knife Fight segment wherein two songs so dissimilar as to be considered aesthetic enemies are heard tandem. Tune in and hear it for yourself Mondays from 6 to 8 pm here on G-Town Radio. Fewsh; it's 81% music, 19% oh my gosh! Reade McCardell is the host of Fewsh (or maybe Fewsh is the host of Reade McCardell, it's anyone's guess). He's a pale fellow with a sizable affection for music. He knows you like music too, and hopes you can find some satisfaction in the material he plays. For further exploration and enjoyment check out FEWSH (The Podcast) [also available on iTunes] and/or e-mail Reade at fewsh@gtownradio.com. * Note: playlists missing from the chronology indicate reruns/cancellations

If you happen to be a fan of Stephen Sondheim, Tim Burton, and/or Johnny Depp you may consider flagellating yourself for not catching this show. I played a few numbers from the new film adaptation of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, right in a gory row. In addition to this, some auditory treats from the likes of Cat Power, Destroyer, and T Bone Burnett were featured. |

I'm going to boldly step forth and steal the words of Dave Van Ronk (who was, indeed, played herein) in describing this episode: it was a "journeyman's progress report". Regardless as to whether or not it's an accurate summation, it sure has a grand sound to it. |

As usual, a tantalizing blend of music was administered and a touch of opining was done. A request for a DJ Earworm mashup was fulfilled, a piece from Jonny Greenwood's score for There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson's new film) was spun, and the glory of Jim Noir was unfurled! All was as it should be in the small, multifaceted villa of Fewsh. |

I made sure to include sprinklings of Christmas material by the likes of The Beach Boys, Al Di Meola, and Aimee Mann in this installment. I also made sure to play a number of tracks that had little or nothing to do with the holidays (I wanted to avoid sounding excessively seasonal you know). Also, some digging was done into the odd compilation, Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music From Vintage Disney Films. |

A mildly parental edition of Fewsh. Suzzy Roche, of The Roches, appears alongside Loudon Wainwright III (the parents of Lucy Wainwright Roche) and Linda and Richard Thompson (parents of Teddy Thompson) do a tune from their album I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight. Mind you, none of these folks actually played on my show, I just spun their recordings. Don't be swept away by the semantics. |
