The REC Radio Show and G-Town Radio kicked off its most ambitious event ever Wednesday night October 6th as the popular internet talk show commences The Search for the Germantown Idol.
Songs of Wisdom (S.O.W.) Productions CEO & producer, Philadelphia native Donald Robinson (Vanessa Williams, Grover Washington Jr.), will serve as the head judge of the eight-month long contest as amateur singers from across the Delaware Valley vie for the title of Germantown Idol.
Along with a prize package of cash and gifts, the grand winner will win two hours of studio time exclusively with Donald Robinson at the beautiful S.O.W. Production House in the eclectic Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia. "I'm making that THREE hours of studio time; let's get some real work done," Robinson exclaimed when announcing the contest.
"We usually have several small contests throughout our season," The REC's show producer Len 'Cruze' Webb said. "This year, our fifth season on G-Town Radio, we wanted to aim higher and build on the success of the show to present one big showcase event that will give our audience and the public an opportunity to show and prove."
To enter, contestants have to send a recording of their singing to The REC Radio Show where hosts Webb, Yolonda 'Lonnie' McClain and Wanda 'Freedom' Farlow will help Robinson select the top five participants. The finalists will then compete at a live showcase before Robinson and a celebrity judge panel for the title of Germantown Idol in June 2011 at a venue soon to be announced.

Submissions must be in by May 4th, 2011. One entry per contestant. Multiple entries will be discarded. All entries are property of The REC Radio Show and available for use in the promotion of the program and its events.
The Search for Germantown Idol is open for singers of any genre but comes with two restrictions. Rappers are excluded from the contest and according to co-host Lonnie - "If you have to auto-tune your 'warbling', then you're out, man!"
