"Prison Babies', Children of Incarcerated Parents Print E-mail

This week on ...

For the People... law in plain language

with Debra D. Rainey, Esq.

What difficulties might children of incarcerated parents face?

Is a child of an incarcerated parent more likely to end up in

jail/prison himself/herself?

Who do most incarcerated parents rely on to take care of their children?

Should all children ultimately be reunited with their parents?

What type of help or support system is in place for children of

incarcerated parents?

Special Guest

Shari Ostrow Scher, President & Founder:

 Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership.

(C0IPP) COIPP. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist

children who have an incarcerated loved one.

COIPP believes that children of incarcerated parents are a group

of children who lack a voice of their own and works to

give these children a voice in the community, in the schools, and in their families.

Shari Ostrow Scher, was the early childhood specialist and family

involvement supervisor for the Frederick County, Maryland school system

for close to 30 years, retiring two years ago.

provides parenting sessions for caregivers  and conducts talks in the

community and  nationally  on the issues surrounding

children of incarcerated parents.
