The international groove is always welcome at Soul Junction, so I have a host of Japanese jazz and funk lined up, including Sadao Watanabe, Terumasa Hino, and of course, my man, Masabumi Kikuchi.  Plus, a rare recording of Joe Henderson's storied tour of Japan (not the Milestone classic!) and J.J. Johnson & Nat Adderley's fabled Yokohama concert.  AND, there will be electric Peanuts music from Vince Guaraldi, jazz funk from Hubert Laws, and more from the reissue that keeps on givin'...Ivan "Boogaloo Joe" Jones' Sweetback!

This Sunday on Neu-Matic: DE LA SOUL vs. STEELY DAN Print E-mail

Image

Jim Bear brings you a special edition of Neu-Matic pitting the best of De La Soul against Steely Dan's finest. Mase, Pos & Dave square off versus Becker & Fagan this Sunday for two hours. From the Native Tongues, D.A.I.S.Y. Age and beyond to sinister jazz-rock for strung out music nerds these two bands made music like no one else before. Hearing them here together sounds pretty great, too. Listen for yourself from 3-5 PM on G-town Radio (8/21/2011). Click through for some random facts about both bands and the playlist from the show.
