WE’VE MOVED!

SATURDAYS 5:00-6:30 pm (EST)

Cells without Bars

FTP Returning Citizens’

Round-table

What is life like for people when they return to society

after doing time?

If people choose to commit crimes, why should we care

what happens to them?

If Returning Citizens paid their debt to society,

why continuously persecute & ostracize them?

Since most inside will eventually get out, why not

give them the tools so they won’t reoffend?

Why not just plain Citizen versus Returning Citizen

or Ex-Con?

MUMIA MUST LIVE CAMPAIGN! On Stepping Into Tomorrow, 8:00PM, 4/2/15 Print E-mail

Tune in to Stepping Into Tomorrow this evening as hosts Gabriel Bryant and Abdus Sabur discuss this week's top political story: the health of world renowned political prisoner Mumia Abu Jamal. On Monday, 3/30 he was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center due to a diabetic shock. Since then, supporters quickly learned that he has had to deal with varying degrees of illness over the course of the last four months, culminating in being shackled to a hospital bed this week with his family not ble to see him for 20 hours (and limited time when they could). Supporters would learn this morning that he was transported back to SCI-Mahanoy last night although his health hasn't significantly improved. With multiple inconsistencies in this story, most don't trust authorities and are looking toward next steps to assure his safety, security and good health.  Several Supporters, including members of the Campaign to Bring Mumia Home, will check in this evening to discuss what actions people can take as folks respond from all over the world for justice.

April No Fool's @ 6pm/ WHO ROARS LOUDER: LION or MOTHER-IN-LAW?! Print E-mail

Good evening. Welcome to Skywave and our inaugural wednesday show. After a year of tuesdays, we thought why not switch up and keep people guessing. So, let's ramp up the confusion, shall we, since it is April Foolhardy's Day and come back another time. If you're still reading, we have 2 great radio play classics. First up, from the electrifying suspense series X Minus One, we have a script (from the sci fi king Ray Bradbury) titled "The Veldt". First aired in 1955, this tale roars April into your ears..followed by one of our favorite comedy series, The Easy Aces. Originally broadcast in the late '50s and titled "Jane's Mother Comes To Visit", expect the usual alternate take on the mother-in-law issue. And here to cut the ribbon for our opening wed. evening show is Skywave veteran Elizabeth Michaels, and making her debut for this special show is fellow voice actress Claire Meashey along with Jim Ave G "I Coulda Made A Million as a Chadds Ford Painter" Harris with your host Andy Pettit. So..strap on your pith helmet as we get ready to ride into the grasslands of your mind!

It's All Soul 3/30/15: Gladys Knight & The Pips...and Buddah Records Print E-mail

Image

Hey Folks,

Tonight, once again, we'll spend some time with one of the great legendary acts in soul music; in this case, the iconic Gladys Knight & The Pips.  What we're really interested in however-beside the music, of course-is how the group's relationship with Buddah Records helped and hindered their growth in the industry.  We'll talk about production teams, artistic vision, songwriting and Claudine.  We'll also get into the Pips' surreal appearance on The Richard Pryor Show...  Tonight, on a brand new episode of It's All Soul-Gladys Knight & The Pips And Buddah Records.  Hope you can join us!  Mondays, 8-10 pm on gtownradio.com
