Tune in to Lucky Old Souls for Feldie's weekly mix of jazz, rhythm & blues, and more. On today's show, you'll hear lots of music featuring one of the giants of the tenor sax, Don Byas. He moved to Europe in 1946 and didn't return to the States till 1970, but he never stopped making great music. You'll hear him with Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, and leading his own groups. There'll be plenty of other folks in the mix, too, including Lena Horne (who turns 92 today!) Bobby "Blue" Bland, Otis Spann, Betty Harris, and Jason Moran. Full playlist here as it unfolds... |
