Good eve. Welcome to Skywave for live radio play fun a la remote at Gtown radio. We begin with THE classic script from the Suspense series. 1st broadcast 1943, "Sorry Wrong Number" has an invalid woman in hysterics after listening in on a murder plot over the phone. When she calls the operator and the police, why does her phone constantly ring and no one speaks when she asks who it is? You'll have to stay on the line for the exciting conclusion. We follow with a short docudrama about the discovery of a substance now used to eliminate pain. What might that be, you wonder? Stick around. It promises to be a real gas!And also full of air are our voice actors- Anna Kirk, Carol Moog, Tom Casetta and your host, Andy Pettit.

Good eve. Welcome to Skywave for more alive audio play fun! We begin with am episode from that kooky comedy series "My Friend Irma. Originally aired 1953, "The Boss Buys A Race Horse" has Irma acting as an animal right activist when her boss tells her to make sure his new horse Dancing Girl enter the race in place of the tiring nag Laughing Boy. When Irma is convinced he's headed for the glue factory. Who will win this big $ race down the stretch? You gotta bet on Skywave for the next hour for the payoff. We continue with a short from The Royal Dessert Hour series. 1st broadcast 1938, "Danse Macabre" finds the great French composer Chas. Saint-Saens grieving over the grave of his son when a man comes to test his resilience; a fiddler. who plucks not just his own instrument's strings, but those of Saint-Saens himself. How hard will he pull..and what's with the firearm? Well, here to clarify the confusion are ol' friend and actor Anna and Sue Triggiani along with Tom Casetta and your host, Andy Pettit.

Racism and the Environment, new Planet Philadelphia 4-5:00 PM today (6/19/20), Juneteenth. Tune in to hear about some approaches to Racism and the Environment from local community members: Dottie Baumgarten, and Rabbi Julie Greenberg.

Dottie Baumgarten, is an environmental consultant/educator and owner of Sustainable Choices since 2009. She works primarily for the Philadelphia Water Department but has some education contracts with area schools and also is a volunteer with local environmental groups. She will be talking about the problems people of color experience in environmental and scientific groups related to the environment - what are the barriers to diversity for them because of white culture and how we, as white people can work to eliminate these barriers.

 Rabbi Julie Greenberg, is the Climate Justice Coordinator of POWER, an interfaith Pennsylvania organization dedicated to social justice through advocacy, organizing, education, direct action and voter engagement.  She also is a Reconstructionist rabbi. She will be talking about a recent hearing to influence the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), which regulates our energy providers, to require a larger proportion of PECO’s (our energy provider, which is owned by Exelon) distributed energy be solar. ​​

We at Planet Philadelphia recognize a number of media sources are not broadcasting on June 19th in honor of Juneteenth. We decided to take a different tack by honoring Juneteenth by exploring some of the painful racial problems in our society and listen to our guests as they propose some possible approaches to make our world more fair for all.

 
Tune in to hear about some approaches to Racism and the Environment from local community members, Dottie Baumgarten, and Rabbi Julie Greenberg.
